We are TARANTE, a group of women united by a passion for dance, connection, and cultural expression. 

Our journey began with Club Italia, where we came together to explore traditional Italian dances for the 2025 Nelson Italian Festival. Inspired by that experience, we expanded our vision to celebrate and share the rich diversity of cultures and traditions that shape our identities.

Our name is inspired by the taranta, once believed to be a spider whose bite caused wild, trance-like states in southern Italy. The cure? The tarantella — a powerful, rhythmic dance to release the poison, to heal, to be free.

Like those women, we dance to express, to connect, and to free ourselves. With every performance, we honor the fierce, feminine energy that moves through us — bold, vibrant, and unstoppable. Through dance, we share joy, identity, and the rich beauty of cultures woven together.
