Third Culture Minds and Ejaad Afghanistan purse Sale

Ahmed Osman

Kia ora Koutou. We would value and love your company on Monday evening at Cultural Conversations from 7 - 8.15 p.m.

This evening will be hosted by Ahmed Osman. Ahmed is a Somali - New Zealand filmmaker who took that career path so he could challenge the perception New Zealanders have of Muslims and Africans.

He is the director of documentary series Third Culture Minds and on Monday we will watch the 15 mins episode where Guled Mire sits down with PHD candidate Bilal Nasier to unpack the traumas of the past and look at how our experiences as young people and the experiences of our parents, shape our mental health and well being.

There will be an opportunity to ask Ahmed some questions about his work.

Thank you to Community Art Works and JP Pochin for the loan of the projector and screen for this event.

Bilal Nasier (who is interviewed) is a former refugee from Afghanistan. The evening will flow on to Social enterprise Ejaad Afghanistan and Tanya will give an update on their news. We have over 40 beautiful purses that have been made by girls in Afghanistan either in Kabul or the neighbouring villages. 100% of the sales goes back to the women and they need it more than ever to put food on the table with rising inflation. Purses range from $15 - 40 and each have the name of the girl who made it inside.

They make wonderful presents. Please bring cash or there is an option to donate on the website or do an internet transfer on the night.

You can drop in but to secure a place please rsvp;

These posters have been created by female students in Saudia Arabia.
