Community Advocates Project
This year, we have partnered up again with Motueka Family Service Center to run the Community Advocates campaign in the Nelson region. This public awareness campaign delivers positive messages of family safety from community figures. We have got a panel of advocates from different backgrounds joining the kaupapa. Each portrait is accompanied by a quote focusing on building a harmonious community.
We have also created a calendar, starting for Matariki, and magnets for this occasion. If you would like to get one, get in touch or pop in at Cultural Conversations!

The Stories We Hold
Introducing you to The Stories We Hold, a powerful collaboration between Fresh FM and Cultural Conversations.
Through this series, we shine a light on the rich cultural experiences of young migrants and former refugees in Te Tau Ihu. Their stories of migration, hope, and resilience are captured in a short form documentary series.
We hear stories from Nepal, Palestine, Colombia, Kenya, Sri Lanka,Thailand and Pakistan. They symbolise the strength to build a new life while staying connected to cultural roots, the courage to share untold stories, and the hope that people like them will find a sense of belonging here in Aotearoa.
Huge thanks to Lottery Community Fund, who have funded this collaboration.
Courageous Conversations
Courageous Conversations is a 4 part mini series where a migrant to New Zealand gets to tell their story to an inquisitive and sensitive New Zealand listener. The Storytellers have all faced challenging experiences as part of their relocation to NZ.
Stories of Otherness
These first hand accounts are here to educate and help people to speak up. We want to debunk some of the common myths around migration today, focus on people as individuals, become aware of our own unconscious biases and open up to the idea of broadening social circles and understanding multidimensional and intersectional identities
NBS Bittersweet Podcasts
These podcasts are about inspirational people who have reconstructed their lives and responded in transformational ways following huge traumatic events. The episodes are true stories that cover some serious topics that could be upsetting to some audiences.
